- Buchloe, Bavaria, Germany
- Owner

Alpina's roots go back to 1962, when Burkard Bovensiepen developed a Weber dual carburettor for the BMW 1500. Alpina Burkard Bovensiepen KG was established on 1 January 1965 in Kaufbeuren, and by 1970 it had moved to Buchloe.
Since 1983 the German transport ministry has recognised Alpina as an automobile manufacturer, so its cars are registered as Alpinas rather than BMWs. BMW announced its intention to acquire the brand on 10 March 2022, and the company was renamed BMW Alpina in 2025.
