Toyota Highlander III (2017)

3rd generation Toyota Highlander – is a typical representative of its time: aggressive appearance, impressive interior space, fair permeability, rich equipment set and of course the brand (Toyota cars are known for their ruggedness and reliability). In addition, this model is ideal for “family use”.

In its third-generation Toyota Highlander he made its debut in spring 2013 in the framework of the New York Auto Show, and in 2016 gone through a number of updates – compared to its predecessor, it has noticeably matured, got new engines and transmissions and received a much richer functionality.

The length of the “Japanese” equals 4890 mm and its height and width account for 1770 mm and 1925 mm respectively. Wheelbase of the new SUV reaches 2790 mm and its ground clearance amounts to 200 mm. Depending on modification 3rd generation Toyota Highlander weighs from 1880 to 2205 kg.

The interior of the crossover captivates with a snug fit of all elements, perfect ergonomics without any punctures, and high-quality finishing materials (fine plastics, “metal-like” and “wooden” inserts as well as natural leather).

The front panel has a complex but interesting architecture, and in the middle there’s an 8-inch “TV” entertainment system and intuitive “climate” unit with its own display and large switches. Large multifunctional steering wheel and a nice neat instrument cluster with 4.2-inch display between the analog dials harmoniously blend into the overall picture.

Front row seats provide quite a comfortable fit, a bunch of various electronic adjustments, as well as heating and ventilation. Middle row passengers are able to customize sofa in the longitudinal direction and the backrest level. But as for the third row seats – to be fair, they could comfortably accommodate only secondary school children.

The luggage compartment of the 3rd generation Highlander ranges from 269 to 2370 liters, while folded rear rows of seats form additional almost flat space. Moreover, the underground niche holds all the necessary repair tools.

3rd generation Toyota Highlander is available in front-wheel modification, equipped with four-cylinder petrol motor in a volume of 2.7 liters (188 hp and 252 Nm of generated torque) and in a hybrid version with a 3.5-liter V6 unit, three electric motors and lithium-ion batteries (280 “stallions” and 337 Nm).

“Basic” version of the updated SUV is equipped with: leather trimming, eight airbags, 19-inch wheels, three-zone “climate”, multimedia system, light and rain sensors, rear-view camera, ABS, EBD, BAS, VSC, cruise control and front seats with ventilation and heating adjustments.
