History of the Someca 670

Someca under Fiat

Someca was created in 1953 by SIMCA, then a subsidiary of Fiat, from the agricultural motors and tractors division of MAP. Its first tractor was the DA 50, derived from the MAP DR3. The SOM 40 of 1957 became the best-known early model, with 18,741 built by 1964, and by 1960 more than 40,000 Someca tractors with a Fiat base engine had been made. From 1965 Someca built only licensed Fiat Trattori models.

The 670 in the Nastro Oro series

The 670 is listed in the French range as a Nastro Oro model of 1973–1982. The series covered a wide span, from the 250, 300 and 350 to the 420, 450, 460, 480, 500, 540, 550, 640 and 650, with larger models above them. The 670 sat towards the top of that middle group, above the 650 in the numbering and below the larger 750 and 850.

The end of the Someca name

In 1983 Fiat integrated Someca into FiatAgri, one year after the 670 went out of production. The agricultural business became Fiat New Holland in 1993 and is now part of CNH Global. With the move to the unified Fiat-Agri range the Someca name disappeared.

Someca 670 versions

  • 670 (1973–1982): the standard Nastro Oro model.
  • Nastro Oro range: shared with the 250, 300, 350, 420, 450, 460, 480, 500, 540, 550, 640, 650 and larger models.
