History of the Roman 111 RD

The Romanian bus industry of the 1970s worked largely on Western licences, and the Roman 111 RD was one of the results: the Bucharest Autobuzul works built it from 1978 to 1994 under a MAN licence, following the German MAN 535 HO that had been produced from 1962 to 1969.

The bus carried the Roman name even though it was assembled in Bucharest rather than at the Brașov lorry works, whose products also used the Roman badge. Romanian Wikipedia has only a short entry on the model, so this page records the facts given there and does not add technical data that the source does not contain.
