History of the Renault Trafic

A van for many brands

The Trafic has been produced by Renault since 1980. Over its life it has been marketed under several other names: the Fiat Talento, the Nissan NV300 and Primastar, and the Mitsubishi Express, while Opel and Vauxhall sold it as the Vivaro until 2019 and briefly earlier as the Opel and Vauxhall Arena. From early 2022 it has also been sold by Renault Trucks as the Renault Trucks Trafic. Previous versions were sold under Inokom, Chevrolet and Tata badges.

The Vivaro story

The second-generation Vauxhall and Opel Vivaro was produced at GM Manufacturing Luton and at the Renault Sandouville plant from 2014. Following the sale of Opel and Vauxhall from General Motors to PSA in 2017, which later merged with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles in 2021 as Stellantis, the Trafic-based Vivaro went out of production in 2019 and was replaced by a new Vivaro on the Citroën Jumpy’s EMP2 platform for the 2020 model year.
