The New Holland TL series was the company’s mid-range utility tractor line around the turn of the century, running from the TL 70 to the TL 100. The film below shows a TL 80 mowing grass with a Vicon mower. The sources used for this page describe the company, not the series.

History of the New Holland TL series
The class that does most jobs
The TL series filled the middle of the New Holland range: tractors of the size that a mixed farm, a contractor with grassland work or a municipal yard can use for almost everything. Models ran from the TL 70 to the TL 100, with two- and four-wheel-drive versions, and the line was offered with front loaders and with a range of transmissions. Grassland work, haulage and loader jobs were its bread and butter.

The company of those years
The TL series was sold under the single New Holland brand, launched worldwide in 1996 at a convention in Orlando, Florida, after Ford and Fiat had combined their tractor businesses. For a few years the same class of machine could still be bought in Ford blue or Fiat terracotta red, and only in 2000 did the company decide that every tractor would be New Holland blue. In 1999 New Holland merged with Case to form CNH, the group now known as CNH Industrial.
The tractor in the film
The film below shows a TL 80 cutting grass with a Vicon mower in Switzerland — the kind of work these tractors were bought for, and a good illustration of why the mid-range mattered more to most farmers than the flagship models. The sources used here do not give the series’ engines, powers or production years, and this page does not supply figures it cannot support.
