The Modenas CTric is the electric version of the CT underbone, launched on 17 June 2011. It was the first all-electric motorcycle sold in Malaysia and, according to Modenas, the first Malaysian-made electric motorcycle to pass the SIRIM MS2413 standard for electric motorcycles as well as the JIS standards.

History of the Modenas CTric
An electric underbone
The CTric was developed in 2010 through a partnership between Modenas and Universiti Sains Malaysia. Instead of starting from a scooter, as most small electric two-wheelers did, Modenas used the underbone chassis of its own CT110 and CT100, which made the CTric the first electric bike built on that type of frame.
How it works
A brushless DC electric motor provides a peak of 3.6 kW at 80 km/h, although the machine is ratified at 1.0 kW. Power comes from five 12-volt nano-gel batteries producing 60 V and 20 Ah in total. The motorcycle can be recharged from an ordinary BS 1363 240-volt, 13-amp domestic socket in 3.5 hours on fast charging or 8 hours on slow charging. Once fully charged, the range is between 30 and 50 km, and the performance is comparable with a 90 cc underbone, with a top speed of about 70–80 km/h.
The first of its kind in Malaysia
Modenas presented the CTric as the first Malaysian-made electric motorcycle to pass the SIRIM MS2413 standard for electric motorcycles and the JIS standards, and it went on sale in 2011 as the first all-electric motorcycle offered in the country. The model grew out of the CT series of 2009, and its name combines the CT with the word electric.
Design and features
- Underbone chassis: the CT frame rather than a scooter platform, unusual for a small electric bike.
- Domestic charging: a standard 13-amp household socket, with fast and slow charging times.
- Certified: the first Malaysian-made electric motorcycle to meet SIRIM MS2413 and JIS standards.
- City range: 30–50 km on a charge, with performance comparable to a 90 cc underbone.
Modenas CTric versions
- CTric (2011): the only version recorded; no other body or battery options are described in the sources.
The CTric shares its chassis with the petrol CT series, which replaced the Kriss. More machines are in the Modenas collection.
