The Marcopolo Allegro was an intercity bus body produced by Marcopolo in Rio Grande do Sul between 1993 and 2007, with three updates during that time. The first version took its looks from the Torino LN, the second from the Torino GV, and the last was the only one with lines of its own. The model was discontinued in 2007.

History of the Marcopolo Allegro
Allegro 1993
The first Allegro appeared in 1993 with a look clearly inspired by the Torino LN, the city bus that Marcopolo had restyled in 1989. It was the company’s intercity body of the period, sitting between the urban Torino and the long-distance Paradiso.
Allegro GV (1996)
In 1996, with the fifth generation of Marcopolo products, came the Allegro GV, again with a look taken from the Torino GV of the time; in effect it can be seen as the intercity version of that city bus.
Allegro 1999 and the end (1999–2007)
The third Allegro arrived in 1999, in the sixth generation of Marcopolo’s intercity range. Its lines owed little to earlier Allegros: only the rear light cluster and the driver window were inspired by the Torino 1999. Production ended in 2007, when the model was discontinued. For export the Allegro was sold as the Allegro K.
Design and features
- Three updates: the model was revised in 1993, 1996 and 1999, each time following the city Torino of the moment.
- Torino-based design: the first two versions took their looks from the Torino LN and the Torino GV.
- Own lines from 1999: the last version kept only the rear lights and driver window of the Torino 1999.
- Export version: the Allegro K was built for markets outside Brazil.
Marcopolo Allegro versions
- Allegro 1993: the original, inspired by the Torino LN.
- Allegro GV (1996): the fifth-generation version, based on the Torino GV.
- Allegro 1999: the revised sixth-generation model with its own lines.
- Allegro K: the export version.
The Allegro sat between the urban Torino and the long-distance Paradiso; the smaller Andare followed it for shorter routes. More buses are in the Marcopolo collection.
