The Lamborghini Egoista is a concept car unveiled by Lamborghini in 2013 for the company’s 50th anniversary. The fully functioning model is powered by the 5.2-litre V10 of the Gallardo, producing 600 hp. The name comes from the Italian word for selfish; designer Walter de Silva said it “represents hedonism taken to the extreme”.

History of the Lamborghini Egoista

A gift to itself

Lamborghini said at the introduction that it did not intend to sell the Egoista and that it was “a gift from Lamborghini to Lamborghini”. It was displayed at the Museo Lamborghini in Sant’Agata Bolognese. English Wikipedia notes a rumour in 2025 that it had been sold to a private collector in Switzerland for $117 million.

Fighter-jet design

The design is inspired by aviation, particularly military aircraft such as fighter jets and the Apache helicopter, and from the side the exterior is meant to resemble a bull ready to charge. The car has a unique one-seat cockpit like a modern fighter jet, with a canopy door with orange-tinted, anti-glare windows. The cockpit, made of carbon fibre and aluminium, is designed as a “survival cell” inspired by Apache helicopters and is reportedly completely removable; the steering wheel must be taken out to get in and out, as in a Formula One car. The interior has a heads-up display and four-point belts, the LED lighting resembles an aircraft’s, and the active aerodynamic panels rise and fall for downforce and stability. The body and the wheels are made of anti-radar material.
