History of the JLG G9-43A
JLG Industries was founded in 1969 by John Landis Grove and two partners who bought a small metal fabrication business in McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania. The company’s first aerial work platform was built in 1970 by a team of twenty workers, and a scissor-lift line followed in 1973. JLG has been a subsidiary of Oshkosh Corporation since late 2006.
The telehandler business covers three brands: JLG, SkyTrak and Lull, the last two acquired in 2003. Telehandlers from these brands have all-wheel steering with two-wheel, four-wheel circle and four-wheel crab modes, capacities from 5,500 to 17,000 pounds and heights up to 55 feet, and they can be fitted with a wide range of attachments. The Lull brand added a traversing boom for precision placement and ended with the 2015 model year.
Power comes from Tier 4i and Tier 4 final diesel engines, which meet the EPA standards for nonroad diesel engines and are presented by the company as more fuel-efficient and cleaner than earlier units. JLG builds its equipment in five plants in the United States and four abroad, including Leicester in the United Kingdom, Fauillet in France, Leon in Mexico and Tianjin in China.
