History of the JLG ATLAS
JLG Industries was founded in 1969 by John Landis Grove and two partners, who bought a small metal fabrication business in McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania. The first JLG aerial work platform was built in 1970 by a team of twenty workers, and the company added scissor lifts in 1973. JLG became part of Oshkosh Corporation in late 2006.
The telehandler side of the business was built around three brands: JLG itself, SkyTrak and Lull, both acquired in 2003. JLG telehandlers have capacities from 5,500 to 17,000 pounds and heights up to 55 feet, with all-wheel steering offering two-wheel, four-wheel circle and four-wheel crab modes, a wide choice of attachments for job-site tasks and Tier 4i and Tier 4 final diesel engines that meet the EPA standards for nonroad diesel engines.
JLG’s product list also includes a separate group of military telehandlers, named ATLAS, ATLAS II and MMV, alongside drop-deck trailers. The English Wikipedia article on JLG Industries lists these lines among the company’s products but gives no separate description of them, so this page treats ATLAS as part of the military telehandler programme without individual specifications.
