History of the Jaguar XF
The X250
The first-generation XF, known internally as the X250, was an executive and luxury mid-size sports saloon built from 2007 to 2015. It replaced the retro-styled S-Type and moved Jaguar saloon design away from the round-headlamp look of the 1990s towards a more contemporary shape.

The X260
The second generation, the X260, arrived in 2015 and stayed in production until 2024. It continued the executive and mid-size luxury saloon formula and was offered in a long-wheelbase body as well as the standard four-door, the long version being aimed at markets where rear-seat space matters most.
Place in the range
Across both generations the XF has sat below the flagship XJ and above the compact executive models, carrying the sporting brief that Jaguar has attached to its saloons since the Mark 2. High-performance versions with the XF-R and XFR names brought supercharged V8 power to the line.
