InnoScooter EM2500: the stronger of the two 45 km/h models

The InnoScooter EM2500 is the more powerful of the two 45 km/h electric scooters that InnoScooter put into the German market, as recorded in the German Wikipedia survey of electric scooters. It uses the same 48 V, 40 Ah lead-fleece battery and the same 116 kg kerb weight as the EM2000, but its motor is rated at 3.0 kW instead of 2.5 kW. The list quotes a claimed range of 45 km and a price of €2,090.

History of the InnoScooter EM2500

More power, less range

The EM2500 and the EM2000 are listed next to each other in the section for vehicles up to 45 km/h. Their bodies, weights and batteries are given as identical: 116 kg and a 48 V, 40 Ah lead-fleece pack, marked as Chinese and German. What separates them is the motor, 3.0 kW against 2.5 kW, and the consequence is visible in the other columns. The list credits the stronger EM2500 with 45 km of range and the weaker EM2000 with 50 km, and the price moves the other way, from €1,899 to €2,090. For a buyer in that class the choice was therefore between a little more power and a little less distance between charges.

The lithium EM2500L

InnoScooter also listed a lithium-polymer version of the same model, the EM2500L. The survey gives two specifications for it. The first combines a 48 V, 42.5 Ah pack with an 85 kg kerb weight, 70 km of claimed range and a price of €3,690; the second uses a 48 V, 63 Ah pack, raises the weight to 92 kg and stretches the range to 100 km at €4,535. Against the 116 kg of the lead-battery EM2500, the lithium scooters save between 24 and 31 kg, and the larger pack almost doubles the quoted range.

Where the figures stand

The EM2500 is the mid-point of the range recorded in the list: above it sit the EM6000 Maxi, at 81 km/h with a 5 kW motor and a 60 V, 50 Ah lead-fleece battery, and the EM6000 Maxi-Lithium, at 90 km/h and 6 kW with a 64 V, 40 Ah LiFeMnPO4 pack. All the numbers are the manufacturer’s own claims as cited by the survey, and the datasheet behind the EM2500 entry was archived in 2009.

Design and features

  • 3.0 kW motor: half a kilowatt more than the EM2000 in the same 45 km/h class.
  • Shared body figures: 116 kg and a 48 V, 40 Ah lead-fleece battery, the same as its sister model.
  • Claimed 45 km: five kilometres less than the EM2000, the cost of the extra power.
  • €2,090: €191 more than the EM2000 at the prices quoted in the list.
  • Lithium option: the EM2500L offered the same class with 70 or 100 km of claimed range.

InnoScooter EM2500 versions

  • EM2500: lead-fleece battery, 3.0 kW, 116 kg, €2,090.
  • EM2500L, 42.5 Ah: lithium-polymer battery, 85 kg, 70 km of claimed range, €3,690.
