InnoScooter EM2000: a 45 km/h electric scooter on lead-fleece batteries

The InnoScooter EM2000 is a 45 km/h electric scooter listed in the German Wikipedia survey of electric scooters sold in the German-speaking market. It is the smaller of the two lead-battery InnoScooter models in that list, with a 2.5 kW motor, a 116 kg kerb weight and a 48 V, 40 Ah lead-fleece battery. The survey quotes a claimed range of 50 km and a price of €1,899.

History of the InnoScooter EM2000

Two models, one battery

In the German list the EM2000 and the EM2500 sit side by side in the section for vehicles up to 45 km/h. Both are quoted with a 116 kg kerb weight and the same 48 V, 40 Ah lead-fleece battery, and both are marked as Chinese and German. The difference is the motor: 2.5 kW in the EM2000 against 3.0 kW in the EM2500. The stronger model is also the dearer one, at €2,090 against €1,899, and it is credited with a shorter range, 45 km instead of 50 km. Read together, the two rows suggest that the extra half-kilowatt was bought with range rather than with weight.

Lead-fleece rather than lithium

The EM2000 is listed with what the table calls Blei-Glasfaservlies, an absorbed glass-mat lead battery, at 48 V and 40 Ah. InnoScooter offered the same 45 km/h class with lithium-polymer batteries in the EM2500L, and the weight difference is plain in the list: the lithium version of that model is quoted at 85 kg with a 42.5 Ah pack and 70 km of range, or 92 kg with a 63 Ah pack and 100 km, against 116 kg for the two lead-battery scooters. The prices rise in step, from €1,899 and €2,090 to €3,690 and €4,535.

Above the 45 km/h class

The same survey places the EM6000 Maxi, at 81 km/h with a 5 kW motor and a 60 V, 50 Ah lead-fleece battery, among the vehicles above 45 km/h; its lithium sister, the EM6000 Maxi-Lithium, is quoted at 90 km/h, 6 kW, 139 kg and a 64 V, 40 Ah LiFeMnPO4 pack. Every figure in this article is the manufacturer’s own, as cited by the list, and the datasheets behind the EM2000 entry were archived in 2009.

Design and features

  • 45 km/h: the scooter is listed in the class of vehicles up to 45 km/h, not among the faster machines.
  • 2.5 kW motor: the smaller of the two motors InnoScooter offered in that class.
  • 48 V lead-fleece battery: 40 Ah of absorbed glass-mat lead, the cheaper and heavier option in the range.
  • Claimed 50 km: the longer of the two range figures quoted for the lead-battery models.
  • €1,899: the lowest price of any InnoScooter in the list.

InnoScooter EM2000 versions

  • EM2000: the model described here, 2.5 kW, 116 kg, €1,899.
  • EM2500: the same battery and weight with a 3.0 kW motor, 45 km of claimed range and a €2,090 price.
  • EM2500L: the lithium-polymer version of the same 45 km/h class, listed in 42.5 Ah and 63 Ah forms.

The stronger InnoScooter EM2500 shares the EM2000’s battery and weight, and the whole line is set out in InnoScooter electric scooters. More machines of the marque are collected under InnoScooter.
