InnoScooter electric scooters: the range in numbers

InnoScooter sold electric scooters in the German-speaking market, and five of its models are recorded in the German Wikipedia survey of electric scooters. They run from the 45 km/h EM2000 and EM2500, built around a 48 V lead-fleece battery, to the 90 km/h EM6000 Maxi-Lithium with a 64 V lithium-iron-phosphate pack. All the figures below are the manufacturer’s own claims, taken from datasheets that the list cites and that were archived in 2009.

History of the InnoScooter electric scooters

The 45 km/h models

Three entries cover the slow end of the range. The EM2000 and the EM2500 share a 116 kg kerb weight and a 48 V, 40 Ah lead-fleece battery; the EM2000 is quoted at 2.5 kW, 50 km of range and €1,899, the EM2500 at 3.0 kW, 45 km and €2,090. Both are marked as Chinese and German. The third, the EM2500L, swaps the lead battery for lithium-polymer: 48 V and 42.5 Ah with 85 kg and 70 km at €3,690, or 48 V and 63 Ah with 92 kg and 100 km at €4,535.

The EM6000 Maxi

The two fast models are marked as Chinese, American and German. The EM6000 Maxi is listed at 81 km/h with a 5 kW motor, 135 kg and a 60 V, 50 Ah lead-fleece battery; its range is given as 40 km, or 55 km with the scooter restricted to 45 km/h. The EM6000 Maxi-Lithium raises the top speed to 90 km/h and the motor to 6 kW, carries a 64 V, 40 Ah LiFeMnPO4 pack, weighs 139 kg and is credited with 65 km of range. It is also the most expensive InnoScooter in the survey, at €4,999 against €3,490 for the lead-battery version.

Lead or lithium

The two battery families divide the range neatly. Lead-fleece scooters are the cheap and heavy end: €1,899 to €3,490, and 116 to 135 kg. Lithium machines cost from €3,690 to €4,999 but bring the weight down to 85 kg in the smallest EM2500L and offer the longest claimed ranges, 70, 100 and 65 km. The pattern is the one familiar from electric vehicles of the period: the battery decides both the price and the usable range, while the motor mostly decides how quickly the scooter reaches its limited top speed.

Design and features

  • Two speed classes: the EM2000, EM2500 and EM2500L at 45 km/h, the EM6000 pair at 81 and 90 km/h.
  • Two battery families: absorbed glass-mat lead at 48 or 60 V, and lithium-polymer or LiFeMnPO4 at 48 or 64 V.
  • A wide weight spread: from 85 kg for the 42.5 Ah EM2500L to 139 kg for the EM6000 Maxi-Lithium.
  • Manufacturer figures: range and top speed are the maker’s claims, not independent measurements.
