The Infiniti G35 was the third generation of the Infiniti G line. Unlike the two front-wheel-drive Primera-based generations before it, the G35 was a rebadged Nissan Skyline (V35) and came as a sedan and a coupe, using Nissan’s FM platform.

History of the Infiniti G35
The Infiniti G began in 1990 as the G20, a front-wheel-drive sedan based on the Nissan Primera; the second generation was a Primera too. The third generation, the G35, changed direction: from the V35 onwards the Infiniti G was a rebadged version of the Nissan Skyline line of sedans and coupes, exported to the United States and Canada.
The V35 used Nissan’s FM platform, the same family of underpinnings as the Nissan 370Z, with shared components from the Infiniti M, Infiniti EX and Infiniti FX. In 2014 Infiniti changed its naming, giving every passenger car a name beginning with Q, and the G was to be replaced by the Q50. The G37 nevertheless returned for the 2015 model year as the Q40.
Design and features
- Skyline basis: the first Infiniti G that was a rebadged Nissan Skyline rather than a Primera.
- Sedan and coupe: two body styles, where the first two generations were sedans only.
- FM platform: shared with the Nissan 370Z and with components from the Infiniti M, EX and FX, replacing the Primera base of the earlier G20.
