History of the Hyosung GV250

The GV250 is the middle member of the Aquila custom family, between the 125 and the 650. In 2000 the Aquila had appeared as a 125 and a 250; the second-series 250, which took the GV suffix from 2004, was visually matched to the rest of the range and given a single silencer in place of the earlier twin exhaust.

The engine is a 249 cc V-twin with four valves per cylinder and double overhead camshafts, cooled by air and oil rather than water. For 2010 the model was quoted at 28.5 hp (21.3 kW), and it uses the same electronic fuel-injection system as the bigger GV650. That kept the smaller cruiser in step with the flagship when Hyosung moved its range from carburettors to injection.

The GV250 was not sold only under its own name: Atk also offered rebadged versions of the model. The bike remained in production as the entry point to the cruiser range for riders who wanted the Aquila look without the weight and cost of the 650.

Design and features

  • V-twin in a small cruiser: a 249 cc four-valve DOHC engine rather than the single usual in the class.
  • Air-and-oil cooling: no radiator, which keeps the lines of the custom bodywork clean.
  • Fuel injection: the same system as the GV650, fitted to the 2010 version.
  • Custom styling: part of the Aquila range, with the low seat and pulled-back bars of the line.

Hyosung GV250 versions

  • Aquila 250, first series (2000–2004): cast wheels, covered fork stanchions, a more enveloping rear mudguard and twin silencers.
  • GV250, second series (from 2004): single silencer and styling matched to the rest of the GV range.
  • 2010 model: 28.5 hp, electronic fuel injection.
  • Atk-badged versions: the same motorcycle sold under another name.

The GV250 is the middle of the Aquila range, below the GV650, which uses the same fuel-injection system. The sportier GT250 uses the same V-twin layout without the cruiser bodywork.
