History of the Honda SH

In 1984 the first generation of the SH debuted as a 50 cc scooter for young riders, ideal for moving around the city, with a very simple, angular line, spoked wheels and drum brakes.

Second generation

In 1996 the second generation arrived with 50 and 100 cc two-stroke engines. Its lines became much softer and less angular, giving a more solid appearance, with a two-level seat, though the levels were only slightly differentiated. It introduced alloy wheels and a front disc brake, and from this generation production moved to Honda Italia’s Atessa factory.

Four-stroke generations

In 2001 the third generation came out in 125 and 150 cc four-stroke versions with a more profiled seat, a new and rounder livery, more integrated warning lights and a larger passenger grab handle; air cooling gave way to liquid cooling, which required a front air intake. In 2005 the fourth generation of SH 125/150 was presented with electronic fuel injection, new warning lights and a softer line with more side protection from the shield. The 300 cc version arrived in 2007, at the time the most powerful in the SH family.

Fifth generation

In 2009 the fifth generation of SH 125/150 was presented with a sharper, slimmer line, warning lights next to the radiator intake, a new V-shaped radiator and integral disc brakes with combined braking on all models. A second generation of the 300 cc version followed in 2011 with smoother styling, a revised frame and a new rear radial tyre.
