History of the Garelli Noi
The successor to the Eureka
The Noi was developed as the successor to the Eureka series and was produced from 1979 to 1991, becoming particularly widespread in Italy. Its construction was marked by a stable tubular frame, simple controls and a classic design.
Versions and the Trussardi edition
Over the years Garelli offered the Noi Lusso, the Noi Matic with a two-speed automatic gearbox, the Noi De Luxe with kickstart and an aluminium cylinder, and the luxurious Noi Trussardi. The last was made in 1983 as a limited edition of about 1,500 examples in collaboration with the Italian fashion designer Nicola Trussardi, finished in khaki with a leather-look saddle and chromed side panels. Technically the mofa remained much the same, but it received small modernisations such as electric or kick starting, automatic oil mixing and new light-alloy wheels.
Charleston to Los Angeles
In 1980 Roberto Patrignani (1935–2008), known for his racing successes in the 1950s and 1960s as well as for his journalism and travels, rode a Garelli Noi from Charleston to Los Angeles, a distance of about 4,450 km.
