The Fiat 211, usually called the 211R, was a small agricultural tractor developed by Fiat Trattori in the late 1950s. It replaced the 1957 Fiat 18 piccola, repeated its layout and was produced in Italy from 1959 to 1964; outside Italy it was built by Fiat Concord in Argentina.

History of the Fiat 211

A successor to the 18 piccola

The 211R was presented in 1957 as the successor to the Fiat 18 piccola and kept the arrangement of the earlier model. Production in Italy ran from 1959 to 1964. With the arrival of the Diamond series Fiat replaced it with the 215, which kept the mechanics of the earlier tractors but was given entirely new styling.

Engines and versions

The tractor came in several versions and conversions, but the diesel engine was the same throughout: a four-stroke two-cylinder diesel with pre-chamber injection, 1,135 cm³ and 20 hp at 2,300 rpm. A petrol alternative was also offered, the Fiat 211 RB, with a four-cylinder engine of 1,221 cm³ producing 22 hp at 2,300 rpm.

Production in Argentina

Outside Italy the 211 was built by Fiat Concord in Argentina from 1961 until the end of 1966, which kept the model in production two years longer than in Italy.

Design and features

  • Two-cylinder diesel: 1,135 cm³ with pre-chamber injection and 20 hp at 2,300 rpm.
  • Petrol alternative: the 211 RB used a 1,221 cm³ four-cylinder engine of 22 hp.
  • Familiar layout: the 211 repeated the arrangement of the Fiat 18 piccola it replaced.

Fiat 211 versions

  • Fiat 211R: the standard diesel tractor, 20 hp.
  • Fiat 211 RB: petrol version with a four-cylinder engine of 22 hp.
