History of the Cadillac XTS
Production began in May 2012 at Oshawa Assembly and the car launched that June as a 2013 model, replacing the STS and DTS in one move. It was sold in the United States, Canada, Mexico, China and the Middle East, and was also assembled by Shanghai GM from February 2013. The XTS was front-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive available as an option; the V-Sport came with all-wheel drive as standard, a limited-slip differential and torque vectoring.

Equipment
Standard equipment included dual-zone automatic climate control, 4G LTE connectivity, adaptive cruise control, keyless entry, leather upholstery, eight-way power front seats, parking assist and a full set of airbags including a driver’s knee airbag. Options included separate rear climate controls with eight-inch screens folding up from the front seat backs, a DVD player with wireless headphones, four wood selections and a 14-speaker Bose system with AudioPilot noise compensation. Cadillac’s CUE system with an eight-speaker Bose stereo, HD Radio and SiriusXM was standard.
Engines and versions
The main engine was a 3.6-litre V6 of 304 hp and 264 lb-ft, with twin turbocharging in the XTS V-Sport lifting output to 410 hp and 369 lb-ft along with cylinder deactivation. A 2.0-litre turbo four was offered in China only. The 2018 model year brought a mid-cycle refresh with new front and rear styling. A long-wheelbase XTS-L, plus limousine and hearse versions, was available for fleets and coachbuilders until late 2019. The XTS Platinum concept of 2010, with a 3.6-litre V6 plug-in hybrid estimated at 350 hp and OLED displays instead of conventional instruments, previewed the design, and a Platinum production version went on sale in 2013.
