The Wave is a revised version of the Bajaj Saffire. Bajaj kept the Saffire’s basic layout but fitted a 109.7 cc DTS-i engine, a continuously variable transmission and updated body panels.
The engine produced a maximum of 8 bhp. Bajaj also fitted its ExhausTEC resonator and a ride control switch, features used on its motorcycles to improve low-speed torque and offer economy or power modes. The Wave was positioned against the Honda Activa and the TVS Scooty Pep, the leading automatic scooters of the period.
