History of the Aston Martin Vantage (2018)
Mercedes power

The Vantage uses powertrain and infotainment technology from Mercedes-Benz, as the DB11 does: the AMG 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with 510 PS and 685 N·m and the Mercedes COMAND system. A rear-mounted ZF 8-speed automatic is used, and the engine is placed as far back as possible to reach a 50/50 weight distribution. The Vantage is the first Aston Martin production car with an electronically controlled differential with torque vectoring and is built on the DB11’s bonded-aluminium platform, although about 70% of its parts are said to be unique.
Design and AMR
The design is inspired by the track-only Vulcan and the DB10 built for the film Spectre, and the front grille, specifically inspired by the Vulcan, helps engine cooling. To save weight the passenger glove compartment is gone. The Vantage AMR appeared in 2019 as a track-focused variant that replaces the ZF automatic with a Graziano 7-speed dog-leg manual previously used in the V12 Vantage S; it adds an AMSHIFT throttle blip, a new limited-slip differential, carbon-ceramic brakes, 20-inch forged wheels and adaptive dampers, saves 95 kg and reaches 0–97 km/h in 3.9 seconds.
