In late April 2016 in terms of the Beijing Motor Show the Chinese automaker Geely has exposed to the world public the production version of the new Emgrand Cross crossover, which is known in China under the name Emgrand GS. The car, made on the base of Cross Concept shown in 2014 has received modern design, decent equipment and a wide range of options.
Thanks to the efforts of Peter Horbury (former Volvo designer), externally Geely Emgrand Cross looks pretty and stylish. The dimensions of the new Chinese SUV do not go beyond the “compact community”: 4440 mm in length, 1833 mm in width and 1560 mm in height. The machine has a 2700 mm wheel base, and its ground clearance is less than 180 mm in the “stowed” state.
The interior of Emgrand Cross is decorated in a sleek and modern style deprived of unnecessary accumulations. The driver’s “cabinet” is represented by a filed down multi-driving wheel, informative dashboard devices with a small color screen, and a stylish center console with 8-inch screen of multimedia complex accompanied with well-organized “climate”.
Inside the car is stuffed with neat plastic of extraordinary texture, and the seats are dressed in either fabric or leather. Salon decoration of the SUV shows pretty front seats with prominent side support bolsters and the two-seated rear sofa with a center armrest. Luggage compartment of Geely Emgrand Cross has about 500 liters in a standard state.
The power palette of the Chinese pseudo-crossover includes a pair of four-cylinder petrol units, each of which may be accompanied by either a 6-speed “mechanics” or a 6-band “robot” with two clutches (uncontested drive to the front axle).
In the combined driving mode the gasoline consumption of the 5-door SUV does not exceed 5.9-6.9 liters per “hundred” run. In the basis of Geely Emgrand Cross lies FWD “truck” under the name «FE», known from the other models of the Chinese brand.
In the Celestial market, Geely Emgrand Cross is sold to customers at a price of 77 800 to 108 800 yuan. Basic equipment of the crossover consists of front airbags, power steering, ABS, EBD, 17-inch alloy wheels, multi-functional steering wheel, air conditioning, branded audio system with six speakers, electric windows on all doors and exterior mirrors with electric adjustment and heating function.
“Top” SUV versions are able to boast an adaptive “cruise”, leather seats, panoramic roof, multimedia center with 8-inch screen, side airbags, technologies preventing accidents and informing about the emergency braking, 18-inch “rollers” and several other additional options.
