The Chinese Automaker Changan has recently introduced yet another novelty – “urban SUV” Changan CS35. From an aesthetic point of view Changan CS35 is quite good, especially knowing that the appearance of the crossover is a product of collaboration of the Chinese company with Italian designers.
As for the dimensions, Changan CS35 is very compact. The length of its body is only 4160 mm, wheelbase fits into the framework of 2560 mm, the width of the crossover does not exceed 1810 mm and its height is limited to 1670 mm. The ground clearance of the new compact SUV fits into 180 mm, which is quite acceptable for the urban crossover. The curb weight of the novelty equals 1345 or 1365 kg, depending on configuration.
The five-seater interior of Changan CS35 is solidly decorated, clean and modern. In the basic modification it is furnished with fabric and soft plastic, and the “top-end” versions can boast with synthetic leather seat upholstery.
As for the ergonomics of the front panel – no special claims should arise, but in the whole the interior is far from ideal, and in particular this applies to free space for the rear passengers. In addition, all seats in the crossover are fairly mediocre, which makes it unsuitable for a long-distance ride.
The trunk of Changan CS35 is good enough for a vehicle of such dimensions and is able to accommodate up to 337 liters of cargo in a standard condition or 1251 liters with folded back seats.
Changan CS35 got a single engine modification but with two gearbox types to choose from: a 5-speed “mechanics” or a 4-band “automatic”. Under the hood, the crossover is mounted with 1.6-liter engine from the BlueCore family, developed by the British engineering unit belonging to the Chinese automaker. Its maximum speed is limited to 180 km / h.
Crossover Changan CS35 is built on the front-wheel drive platform, so the all-wheel drive system is not even an option. Front suspension of the crossover is fully independent, based on MacPherson type struts and the anti-roll bar. In the rear the Chinese installed a semi dependent torsion beam with coil springs.
The novelty is equipped with disc brakes on all wheels, ventilated in front. In addition, the dual-circuit braking system is supplemented by ABS, BAS and EBD, as well as power-operated parking brake. Rack and pinion steering of the novelty is supplemented with electric power.
Top configuration of Changan CS35 is supplemented with side airbags (bringing their total number up to six units), with electric sunroof, multifunctional steering wheel, leather interior trimming, cruise control, 12-volt socket, 17-inch alloy wheels and some other pleasant bonuses.
