History of the Yamaha YBR125
The YBR125 replaced the Yamaha SR125 in this segment and was introduced in 2005. It used a single-cylinder air-cooled four-stroke engine of 124 cc and was offered in naked, faired and custom variants, giving buyers a choice of style within the same mechanical package.

Model years up to 2007 used a carburettor, while 2008 and later models switched to fuel injection. Around 2010 Yamaha added a dual-sport version called the YBR125 G, which brought engine and hand guards, a higher front fender, an anti-collision fender for the headlight and new block-pattern tyres.
In February 2017 Yamaha announced the YS125, primarily a facelift to meet Euro 4 standards. The changes were extensive enough to justify a new name: the cylinder stroke grew from 54 mm to 57.9 mm, power and fuel economy improved slightly, fuel tank capacity increased and the seat was 15 mm higher. The instruments took inspiration from the Honda CBF125, and the styling became more aggressive while keeping the YBR125 look. In Brazil the YS kept the YBR name and added the Factor moniker.
