Within the framework of Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2015 Suzuki Company carried out the official presentation of the sports version of a compact crossover Vitara, that has received letter «S» to its name. Already in the beginning of 2016 the car will go on sale in the European market.
Externally Suzuki Vitara S differs only by insignificant details – original grille with vertical slats, silver mirror housings, red searchlight framing sections in LED optics and the alloy wheels of 17 inches, painted in black gloss. The rest – is still the same fashionable and beautiful crossover.
Overall dimensions of the S-model are identical to the original version: 4175 mm long, 1775 mm wide and 1610 mm heigh with 2500-mm distance between the wheel pairs. Under the “belly” the upgraded SUV has a clearance of 185 mm.
Inside, Suzuki Vitara S differs only in decoration – red framing devices and ventilation vents, leather and Alcantara with red stitching and aluminum trim on the pedals. Everything else remains the same – dullish design, ergonomics, five seats and a luggage compartment with volume capacity of 375 to 1120 liters.
The main feature of S-model lies under the hood – the aluminum Boosterjet “Quartet” with the volume of 1.4 liter and 16-valve timing, direct injection, “Start / Stop” turbo function, developing 140 horsepower at 5500 rpm / min and 220 Nm of torque, available at 1500-4000 rev / min.
The engine is complimented with a 6-band automatic transmission with paddle “petals” and the all-wheel AllGrip drive (exactly like the original car).
The dynamic characteristics of Suzuki Vitara S cannot be named outstanding – it takes only 10.2 seconds for the crossover to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km / h and the limit is set at around 200 km / h. In a mixed mode the vehicle requires 5.5 liters of petrol per “hundred” (in the city it only requires 6.4 liters, and on the road – 5 liters).
Technically the S-version of “Vitara” has no differences from the less powerful “brother”: independent suspension with McPherson type struts in front, a semi-independent torsion beam in the rear, electric power steering and disc brakes “in a circle” (with ventilation at the front wheels). By default, the car is equipped with ABS and EBD systems.
In the European market Suzuki Vitara S price will start from 26,790 euros. By default the crossover is set with seven airbags, multimedia, dual-zone “climate”, audio system with six speakers, 17-inch wheel disks, LED optics, heated front seats and other “chips”.
