This summer, at the motor show in Sao Paulo the French Manufacturer has presented Company’s new concept pickup built on the basis of Renault Duster crossover. And almost immediately they have announced that they plan to run the model into serial production in the nearest future. They did not put this off long enough, and here the other day in Brazil sales of the pick-up with a double cabin have begun under the name of Duster Oroch.
In Renault they hope that Duster Oroch will inherit at least part of the popularity of the crossover. As conceived by the manufacturer, the novelty should combine functionality and utility of a pickup truck with a spaciousness and comfort of the original crossover. Renault Duster Oroch has preserved its five-seat interior, got four doors but it differs from the crossover with the presence of a small vehicle.
The cargo area of a pickup is 1350 mm long and 1175 mm wide. The volume of cargo space equals 683 liters. Lifting capacity of a pickup is 730 kg.
Duster Oroch has received a new extended cabin decorated with renewed front and rear bumpers, false radiator grille, headlamps and rear lamps, which have become more difficult. Its bumpers are now painted in the color of the body with only few individual elements have of color. Oroch has also received a stronger protection of the bottom and “aluminum” thresholds.
The novelty flaunts with alloy 18-inch wheels, performed in the original design with 255/60 tires. It has obtained more powerful roof rails and additional rails installed on the back of a pickup. Duster Oroch has received a five-seat cabin – small, but quite roomy with brand new, entirely modified frame and same trimming materials that are normally used for the manufacture of wetsuits.
The motor lineup of Duster Oroch pickup will include engines with the volumes of 1.6 and 2.0 liters, running either on petrol or ethanol, developing 110 hp and 148 respectively. Motors will be aggregated both with mechanical and automatic transmissions. A special feature of Deister Oroch is the presence of fasteners for kitesurfing boards.
The pickup will be offered in three complete sets. The basic equipment includes front airbags, ABS, power steering, power windows, air conditioning, audio system with four speakers and 16-inch wheels. The top complete set got additional fog lights, parking sensors, cruise control, mirrors with electric adjustment and multimedia system with navigation.
Renault Duster Oroch costs around 62,300 Brazilian reals ($ 15210).
