History of the Moto Guzzi Bellagio

The Bellagio was presented in 2007. Like the other Moto Guzzis it used a 90° longitudinal V-twin, four-stroke and air cooled, but in this case the engine was completely new and displaced 936 cc. It had two valves per cylinder, controlled by a single camshaft placed above the crankshaft and operated through pushrods and rocker arms, with ignition by two spark plugs per cylinder and the alternator on the front of the crankshaft. Fuel feed was by a Marelli multipoint indirect electronic injection system with two 40 mm throttle bodies, and power was about 75 hp.

The dry single-plate clutch worked with a six-speed gearbox, and the final drive was by shaft, integrated in the CARC suspension. At the front there was a 45 mm Marzocchi telescopic fork; at the rear a CARC single-sided swingarm with a monoshock. The wheels were spoked, a Tagasako-Excel front and a Behr rear, with 120/70-18 and 180/55-17 tyres, and braking was by two 320 mm floating discs at the front and a single 282 mm disc at the rear.

Aquila Nera

In 2010 Moto Guzzi introduced a version called Aquila Nera, Black Eagle, with some modifications, richer equipment and black finishes for various components. The model stayed in production until 2014.

Design and features

  • New 936 cc engine: a pushrod V-twin developed specially for the Bellagio, with two plugs per cylinder.
  • CARC rear end: Moto Guzzi’s single-sided swingarm with shaft drive and a monoshock.
  • Custom posture: a naked bike with a standard riding position and wide 18-inch front wheel.
  • Strong brakes: two 320 mm floating discs at the front.
  • Aquila Nera: the black-finished, better-equipped version of 2010.

Moto Guzzi Bellagio versions

  • Bellagio (2007–2014): the standard model with the 936 cc engine.
  • Bellagio 940 Aquila Nera (2010–2014): black finishes and richer equipment.

The Bellagio used the small-block idea of the Breva in custom clothes, and it sat in the range beside the Griso. More machines are in the Moto Guzzi collection.
