History of the Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks

From a joint venture to Logisnext

The Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks brand was formed in 1992, when Mitsubishi Heavy Industries entered a joint venture with Caterpillar. In February 2013 the business signed an agreement with the Japanese company Nichiyu to create Mitsubishi Nichiyu Forklift, and since 2018 Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks has operated as a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Logisnext.

Mitsubishi Logisnext is the name used for materials handling products made and distributed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and several Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift subsidiaries: Mitsubishi Logisnext Europe, Mitsubishi Logisnext Americas, Mitsubishi Logisnext Asia Pacific and Mitsubishi Logisnext Forklift in Shanghai.

What the brand builds

The range covers counterbalance forklift trucks and warehouse equipment: internal combustion trucks running on diesel or LPG, electric counterbalance trucks, powered pallet trucks, stackers, order pickers and reach and multi-way trucks. Many designs and components are common to all regions, though the product ranges differ somewhat between continents.

Production is spread across the world. The headquarters are in Nagaokakyō, Japan, and manufacturing sites are in Dalian in China, Houston in Texas, Järvenpää in Finland, Marengo in Illinois, Ōmihachiman in Japan and Pamplona in Spain.
