History of the McLaren 570S
Design and engine

The 570S is powered by a new iteration of the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 already used in the 650S and P1, designated M838T E, with thirty per cent of the parts redesigned. It gives 570 PS and 601 N·m through a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox in a rear-mid engine layout, and reaches 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds. McLaren focused on day-to-day usability, with more luggage space, more interior storage and leather options. The teardrop cockpit helps aerodynamics, and the rear, with its slim LED tail lights and diffuser, is inspired by the P1.
540C and 570GT
At the 2015 Shanghai Motor Show McLaren unveiled the entry-level 540C with 540 PS and 540 N·m, 0–97 km/h in 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 320 km/h; it was not sold in the US. At the 2016 Geneva Motor Show came the 570GT, the less track-focused, more road-trip version, with a side-opening cargo hatch above the mid-mounted engine for extra luggage space.
Design and features
- Usability: more luggage space and storage than other McLarens.
