The Massey Ferguson 3600 was a series of six-cylinder tractors built at Beauvais in France from 1987 to 1995. Its output started at 113 to 150 PS and climbed to 190 PS, and the 3670 of 1990 was one of the models that brought Sisu engines into the range.

History of the Massey Ferguson 3600
Launch and model changes
The series arrived in 1987 with the 3610, 3630 and 3650, all powered by Perkins engines. In 1989 came the 3680 with a Sisu engine, replaced as early as 1990 by the 3690. Also in 1990 Massey Ferguson introduced the 3670 with a Sisu engine, while the smaller models received new Perkins engines and were renamed 3635, 3645 and 3655. The top model, the 3690, was raised to 190 PS in 1992 and received a new Sisu engine with more torque in 1993.
Engines and transmission
Every model of the 3600 series used a six-cylinder diesel, from Perkins at first and from Sisu later. The company’s own gearbox offered 16 forward and 16 reverse speeds, with a crawler gear as an option, for a top speed of 30 km/h. From 1992 some models were fitted with the Dynashift transmission, which raised the top speed to 40 km/h. The angular engine cover was the visual signature of the whole family.
Design and features
- Angular engine cover: the styling mark shared by every model of the series.
- Six cylinders throughout: Perkins at first, Sisu from 1989 onwards.
- 16-speed gearbox: 16 forward and 16 reverse ratios, with an optional crawler gear.
- Dynashift from 1992: a 40 km/h transmission on the models that received it.
- 190 PS flagship: the 3690 reached that output in 1992 and gained a torquier Sisu engine in 1993.
Massey Ferguson 3600 versions
- 3610, 3630, 3650 (1987): the original Perkins-engined models.
- 3680 (1989): first Sisu engine, replaced by the 3690 in 1990.
- 3670 (1990): Sisu-engined model, the record behind this article.
- 3635, 3645, 3655 (1990): the smaller models renamed after receiving new Perkins engines.
- 3690 (1992–1993): raised to 190 PS, then given a new Sisu engine.
The 3600 series followed tractors such as the 1155 into the high-power classes, and it was built at the same Beauvais plant as the 1080. More tractors are in the Massey Ferguson collection.
