History of the Lamborghini Centenario
A test bed

Lamborghini developed the Centenario to showcase new technology and as a test bed for future models. It is the first Lamborghini with three exhausts and with rear-wheel steering, which adds manoeuvrability at low speed and stability at high speed, and the first with the company’s new infotainment system on a 10.1-inch portrait screen that also records telemetry and top speeds. A twin-deck front splitter and the largest rear diffusers ever fitted to a car work with an electronically controlled twin-deck rear wing.
Engine and performance
The car keeps the carbon-fibre monocoque and aluminium subframes of the Aventador, with a tuned version of its 6.5-litre V12 producing 770 PS, 20 PS more than the Aventador SV, and a 5 kg weight saving. It has three driving modes, Strada, Sport and Corsa, a carbon-fibre interior trim with sound-deadening removed, a power-to-weight ratio of 2.21 kg per hp and a braking distance of 30 m from 100 km/h. The Centenario Roadster was unveiled at the August 2016 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. In 2018, 11 of the 40 Centenarios were recalled because of an improper weight rating label.
