History of the KTM 200 Duke
Origins

The 200 Duke was designed together with the 125 Duke in 2007 at KTM’s Mattighofen headquarters and has been manufactured since 2012 at Bajaj Auto’s Chakan plant in India. The two machines share identical powder-coated tubular steel frames and differ only in their engines, with the 200 Duke’s bore increased to 72 mm against the 125’s 58 mm while the stroke remains 49 mm. The compression ratio is 11.5:1.
Production around the world
Besides the Indian plant, the Duke 200 is assembled in Colombia by Auteco S.A. and in Argentina by Simpa S.A. since March 2014. In the Philippines it is assembled by KTM Asia Motorcycle Manufacturing, Inc. (KAMMI) in Santa Rosa, Laguna. The 200 Duke was conceived especially for the Asian market, where the smaller-capacity Dukes sell in large numbers.
Equipment
The engine has two chain-driven overhead camshafts and four valves. The bike has an underbelly exhaust and a three-chamber silencer positioned close to its centre of gravity, and a six-speed gearbox with a cable-actuated multi-disc clutch. Like the 125 Duke, the 200 has disc brakes front and rear with two-channel ABS and travel of 142 mm at the front and 150 mm at the rear, and it shares the frame of the 390 Duke. Since the 2017 overhaul both small Dukes have a TFT instrument display and an LED headlight.
2020 update
In August 2020 the Duke 200 was released in North America, having previously been available only in Asian, European and South American markets. It also featured updated styling and a few other components taken from the Duke 390 to match the other Duke models. KTM reports fuel consumption of 3.7 litres per 100 km for the 200 Duke, and the machine requires at least an A2 licence.
