For the first time compact van Kia Carens of the 3rd generation was presented by the South Korean automaker in autumn 2012 on the stages of Paris Motor Show. At the end of July 2016 the world public first saw a restyled version of the model, which has aquired a slightly corrected appearance, improved quality of finishing materials and the updated technical “stuffing.”
The exterior of the 3rd generation Kia Carens is designed in accordance with current design philosophy of the brand, but in its own unique way. The car is endowed with attractive and balanced appearance, which won’t be lost even in a saturated urban traffic.
3rd generation Kia Carens stretches to a length of 4525 mm, its height is 1610 mm and width fits into 1805 mm. The distance between the wheel pairs equals 2750 mm.
Inside Kia Carens demonstrates rich and stylish design, combined with high functionality, thoughtful ergonomic performance and high-quality finishing materials. By default Сarens of the third generation is organized in a five-seat scheme, equipped with perfectly contoured front seats with coherent support on the sides and a wide range of adjustments; as well as comfortable rear sofa, divided into three equal parts. By request the car can be additionally equipped with a 3rd row of seats, which are though suitable only for children.
In a seven-seat configuration, the luggage compartment of the compact van is miserable – only 103 liters. With five seats the luggage space reaches 492 liters, and with two front seats – up to 1650 liters (two rear rows of seats form a completely flat floor in a folded state).
Inside a hood compartment of the 3rd generation Kia Carens one can find both gasoline and diesel engines, working in conjunction with a 6-speed “mechanics” and a front-wheel drive transmission (“senior” versions are offered at an extra charge with a 6-band “automatic”).
The new compact van reaches to the “first hundred” in 9.7-12.6 seconds and its capacity peaks in 181-203 km / h, depending on the version. Gasoline modifications of Carens consume 6.4-7.9 liters of fuel in a mixed mode, and diesel versions “eat” 4.7-6.1 liters.
In the basic configuration the novelty is equipped with: front and side airbags, air conditioning, audio system with six speakers, cruise control, electric windows on all doors, ABS, ESP, multifunction steering wheel with leather braiding and other modern equipment.
