The Infiniti M45 was the second use of the M nameplate. The badge first appeared on the 1989 M30 coupe and convertible, then on a short-lived M45 sedan based on the Nissan Gloria, and finally on the flagship M35 and M45 line that Infiniti built on the Japanese-market Nissan Fuga.

History of the Infiniti M45
The M nameplate arrived in 1989 on the M30, a two-door coupe based on the Japanese-market Nissan Leopard (F31). It was launched for the 1990 model year as a lower-priced alternative to the Q45, and a convertible joined for 1991; the run ended after 1992 with about 17,000 cars built, and the J30 sedan took its place.

After a break, Infiniti used the M name again for a short-lived mid-luxury M45 sedan, a rebadged version of the Japanese-spec Nissan Gloria. The name then went on the flagship M35 and M45, and later the M37, M56, M35h and M30d, all based on the Japanese-market Nissan Fuga. In 2013 the whole range was renamed, and the M sedans became the Q70.
