History of the Honda FR-V
A six-seater for Europe

The FR-V was officially launched in Europe in autumn 2004. It shared a similar platform with the CR-V, which in turn shares one with the Civic, but with a longer wheelbase. The front middle seat can fold down to create a tray or armrest, and the compact MPV offers 32 different seating combinations plus three ISOFIX points. Front suspension is by MacPherson strut and the rear by double wishbones.
Engines
The FR-V was offered with four petrol engines and one diesel depending on region. The 1.7 VTEC and 2.0 i-VTEC were replaced in spring 2007 by a new 1.8 i-VTEC first used in the eighth-generation Civic. The Japanese Edix kept the 2.0 i-VTEC and added a 2.4 i-VTEC, and all-wheel drive was offered in Japan.
Facelift and end
In 2007 the FR-V received its only facelift, with a new front bumper, headlights, tail lights and door handles. Inside, the wood trim was removed leaving carbon-fibre-look trim, and an aux-in port was added. At about the same time the 2.2 i-CTDi diesel joined the range. Production ended in August 2009 without a direct successor.
