History of the Honda CTX1300
Replacing the ST1300

The CTX1300 succeeded the ST1300, known in Europe as the Pan-European, which was discontinued after the 2012 model year. In November 2013, after the ST1300 had been dropped, Honda announced the CTX1300.
An engine tuned for torque
The new model used a version of the ST1300 engine modified for better fuel economy and more torque at low rpm. Maximum torque was 78.19 lb-ft (106.0 Nm) at 4500 rpm, and claimed power was 81.4 hp (60.7 kW) at 6000 rpm.
A change of theme
The CTX abandoned the Pan-European bias of its predecessor and reverted to a North American theme, with a half-fairing, a raked-back handlebar and bagger styling. It was sold in standard and Deluxe specification, the latter adding traction control, ABS and Bluetooth.
Reception
The model was well received in Australia and the United States. European reviews were mixed but positive overall.
Design and features
- Longitudinal V4: the ST1300 engine, retuned for low-rpm torque and economy.
- Shaft drive: a low-maintenance final drive typical of large touring Hondas.
- Bagger styling: half-fairing, raked-back handlebar and North American proportions.
- Deluxe version: traction control, ABS and Bluetooth on top of the standard model.
Honda CTX1300 versions
- CTX1300 standard: the base bagger without the Deluxe electronics.
- CTX1300 Deluxe: traction control, ABS and Bluetooth.
- ST1300 Pan-European: the predecessors whose engine the CTX reworked.
The CTX1300 replaced the Honda Pan-European and shares its touring role with the Gold Wing. More Hondas are in the Honda collection.
