The full-size premium serial sedan (at least in the opinion of the Chinese company itself) GAC Trumpchi GA8 has made its public debut in April 2016 during the recent G-20 Summit, and its public debut is scheduled for Shanghai Motor Show. In the domestic market the novelty will become available in late April immediately after the official premiere, yet still there is no information whether it will be released to the international market.
The exterior of GAC Trumpchi GA8, despite some similarities with the models of famous brands, looks very nice and rather expressive – not only because of a rather contemporary design, but also thanks to harmonious proportions of the car body.
By its dimensions GAC Trumpchi GA8 refers to the European E-Class: with a length of 5003 mm, wheelbase amounting to 2907 mm and its width and height stacked at 1910 mm and 1508 mm respectively. GAC Trumpchi GA8 has a spacious luggage compartment – with a useful volume of 500 liters.
The interior decoration of a large Chinese sedan is executed with a claim for respectability, and performed primarily of decent finishing materials – supple plastics, real leather and inserts of the real wood. Central console is headed by 10-inch “TV” entertainment system; carefully assembled «music» and «climate» units are located slightly below. Multifunctional steering wheel is beautiful and has a convenient shape, though too simple “tools” do not correspond to the status of a premium car.
Front passengers of Trumpchi GA8 have received comfortable armchairs with a thoughtful profile and sufficient capacity for the settings. Rear seats depending on the version can be presented with a three-seater sofa or a pair of separate seats with ventilation and heating.
Initially GAC Trumpchi GA8 will be equipped with only one petrol engine – 2.0-liter “four” with a turbocharger and direct fuel injection generating 197 horsepower at 5,200 revolutions / minute and 300 Nm of torque in the range of 1600 to 4500 rev / min. A little later it will be joined by the “junior” turbocharged engine with capacity of 1.8 liters, whose performance counts 177 “mares” and 242 Nm of ultimate traction.
In the basic configuration GAC Trumpchi GA8 “flaunts” with entirely LED optics, aluminum rims of 17 inches, front seats with heating and electric settings, front and side airbags, three-zone “climate”, ABS with EBD, ESP, infotainment complex and an impressive range of other modern equipment.
The top version the car could be additionally equipped with 18-inch wheels, panoramic roof, split rear seats with heating and ventilation, all-sky cameras and other high-tech “gadgets”.
