The Fiatagri 130-90 Turbo belonged to the high-powered half of the 90 Series, the range FiatAgri brought out in 1984 in place of the 80 Series. Above the medium-low tractors that started at the 55-90, this group ran from the 115-90 to the 180-90 Turbo, and the 130-90 Turbo sat in its lower middle.

FiatAgri presented the 90 Series in 1984 as the replacement for the 80 Series, the range that had made Fiat the best-selling tractor maker in Europe. The new family was divided in two. The medium-low tractors ran from the 55-90 to the 85-90 Turbo; above them came the high-powered group of five — 115-90, 130-90 Turbo, 140-90 Turbo, 160-90 Turbo and 180-90 Turbo — all driven by the new FIAT-IVECO 8000 Series engines. The 130-90 Turbo was the second model of that group, one step above the smallest high-powered tractor.

Turbocharging and the bigger work

The name of the high-powered group is a reminder of what separated it from the rest of the 90 Series: these were the machines for the heaviest work on large farms, and four of its five models carried a turbocharged engine. The 130-90 Turbo was not the largest of them — the 140-90 Turbo, 160-90 Turbo and 180-90 Turbo came above it — but it was already well beyond the medium-low tractors, which stopped at the 85-90 Turbo.

Built under several names

As with the rest of the series, the 130-90 Turbo was not sold only as a FiatAgri. Some 90 Series models were marketed as Agrifull and as Ford, and later as New Holland, which continued to offer them in Europe until 2003. In 1986 FiatAgri moved part of its tractor production from Modena to Jesi, and in 1988 the company was folded into FiatGeotech before the New Holland era began.

Design and features

  • High-powered group: part of the five-model range of big 90 Series tractors, from the 115-90 to the 180-90 Turbo.
  • Turbocharged engine: the Turbo in the name puts it among the forced-induction models of the series.
  • FIAT-IVECO 8000 engines: the engine family shared with the whole 90 Series.
  • Multi-badge sales: also marketed as Agrifull and Ford, and later as New Holland in Europe.

Fiatagri 130-90 versions

  • 115-90: the smallest of the high-powered group.
  • 130-90 Turbo: the second model of the group.
  • 140-90 Turbo: the next step up.
  • 160-90 Turbo and 180-90 Turbo: the largest tractors of the 90 Series.
  • Medium-low 90 Series: the separate group from 55-90 to 85-90 Turbo below these models.

The 130-90 Turbo headed the range above the 55-90 and the 100-90 of the bridge series. The generation it replaced is represented here by the Fiat 980. More tractors are in the Fiatagri collection.
