The Fiatagri 100-90 was one of the tractors of the “bridge” series that FiatAgri added to its 90 Series from 1985. These models — the 90-90, the 100-90 and the 110-90, plus a 95-90 for the British market — filled the space between the medium-low tractors of 1984 and the high-powered models that topped the range.

History of the Fiatagri 100-90
Filling the gap in the 90 Series

When FiatAgri launched the 90 Series in 1984, the range was split into a medium-low group of six tractors, from the 55-90 to the 85-90 Turbo, and a high-powered group of five, from the 115-90 to the 180-90 Turbo, all using the new FIAT-IVECO 8000 Series engines. A year later the company added a third, intermediate set of models, which became known as the bridge series: the 90-90, the 100-90 and the 110-90, with a 95-90 built for the British market.
The middle of the three
The 100-90 stood in the centre of that bridge group, between the 90-90 and the 110-90. It was the middle option of the three: a step above the 90-90 and one below the 110-90, for buyers who did not want to move to the high-powered turbocharged models at the top of the range.
End of the line
The bridge tractors were built until about 1996. By then the Fiat name was disappearing from farm machinery: FiatAgri had become part of FiatGeotech in 1988, and in 1991 Fiat bought Ford New Holland, merging it into the new company that took the New Holland name. The bridge series was replaced by the New Holland L series, which carried the work of the 100-90 into the late 1990s.
Design and features
- The middle of the range: positioned between the 90-90 and the 110-90, for farms that needed more than the medium-low group.
- Part of a three-tier family: the bridge models were added a year after the 90 Series itself, to close the gap between its two original groups.
- FIAT-IVECO 8000 engines: the engine family used throughout the 90 Series.
- Long production: built from 1985 to about 1996, longer than the original two groups of the series.
Fiatagri 100-90 versions
- 90-90: the smallest of the bridge models.
- 95-90: a version made for the British market.
- 100-90: the middle model, between the 90-90 and the 110-90.
- 110-90: the largest of the bridge series.
- New Holland L series: the range that replaced the bridge tractors from about 1996.
The 100-90 sat between the 55-90 of the medium-low group and the 130-90 Turbo at the top of the range. The tractors it succeeded came from the earlier 80 Series, such as the Fiat 980. More tractors are in the Fiatagri collection.
