The MT-11 replaced the MT-10 in 1984 and went on to become the most mass-produced Dnepr of them all. It kept the 650 cc flat twin and the reverse gear, added a brake on the sidecar wheel and a parking brake on the frame, and was gradually updated well into the 1990s.

The MT-11 appeared in 1984 as the next step after the MT-10. It was built around the same 650 cc overhead-valve flat twin, now rated at 32 hp and 4.8 kgf·m, with a twelve-volt electrical system and the MT804 gearbox with reverse. The complete outfit weighed 325 kg and reached 100 km/h. The new model added a brake on the sidecar wheel and a parking brake mounted on the frame, details that made a heavy outfit safer to live with.

Running changes

The MT-11 stayed in production long enough to receive several updates. The camshaft was modernised and the carburettor changed from the K63T to the K65T after 1992. The ignition lock was redesigned. After 1991 a modification designated 021 offered separate rider and passenger seats instead of the solid seat, and from 1993 some machines were fitted with a spring-and-lever front fork similar to the one used on the IMZ 8.103.40 Tourist. These changes were applied gradually rather than at a single model change, which is typical of Soviet factory practice.

The most produced Dnepr

The Russian history of the marque calls the MT-11 the most mass-produced model of the Dnepr line. Its long run reflected the fact that the basic design was well understood by both the factory and its customers: the engine could be serviced almost anywhere, the sidecar was practical, and the reverse gear made the outfit usable in towns and on farms. The MT-11 remained the mainstay of the range until the MT-16 took over the sidecar role in the second half of the 1980s.

Design and features

  • Sidecar brake: a brake on the sidecar wheel, added to the standard rear brake.
  • Parking brake: mounted on the frame, useful on a heavy outfit.
  • Updated engine: a modernised camshaft and the K63T carburettor, later the K65T.
  • Long production: the most produced Dnepr, with changes continuing into the 1990s.

Dnepr MT-11 versions

  • MT-11 (1984): the original model with a solid seat.
  • MT-11-021 (after 1991): the version with separate rider and passenger seats.
  • Late MT-11 (after 1993): some machines with a spring-and-lever front fork.

The MT-11 followed the MT-10 and shared the range with the MT-16. More models are in the Dnepr collection.
