History of the Chery A13
Fulwin 2 in China
The A13 replaced the A15 (Cowin) in the Chery range and was presented for the first time at the 2008 Beijing Auto Show; a facelifted version followed at the 2012 Guangzhou Motor Show. Chery listed the FAW Oley, JAC J3, Honda Amaze, Nissan March, Toyota Etios and Suzuki Swift as its rivals. The engine was a 1.5-litre 16-valve petrol unit of the Acteco family built with the Austrian engineering firm AVL, producing 80 kW (109 PS) at 6,000 rpm and 140 N·m at 3,000 rpm for a top speed of 160 km/h, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox meeting Euro-4.

The ZAZ connection
From 2011 the car was also manufactured in Ukraine by AvtoZAZ, where it was sold as the ZAZ Forza: 4,138 units were produced in 2011, 2,853 in 2012 and 1,447 in 2013. Ukrainian-built cars were exported to Russia, where they were sold as the Chery Very (hatchback) and Chery Bonus (liftback) between 2011 and 2016, the Bonus starting at 336,000 roubles in 2011. Liftbacks and hatchbacks were offered in Base, Comfort and Luxury trim: the basic car had power steering, air conditioning, a driver’s airbag, front electric windows, central locking, a remote-control alarm and 185/60 R15 tyres; Comfort added ABS with EBD, a passenger airbag, rear electric windows, heated front seats and fog lamps, and Luxury added alloy wheels and rear parking sensors.
The Beat
A further Ukrainian version was the Chery Beat, described there as a crossover. It used a smaller 1,297 cc Acteco engine with 84 hp and 122 N·m at 3,500 rpm, meeting Euro 4, with a five-speed manual or an automatic transmission. It was front-wheel drive with MacPherson front suspension and a torsion-beam rear axle, and came in Comfort and Lux form, priced at 85,680 and 89,520 hryvnia.
