Chinese auto company Changan is only beginning to unfold seriously on the international market, yet offering only three models: two sedans and one urban SUV Changan CS35, the main hope of the Chinese.
From an aesthetic point of view, Changan CS35 is quite good, since the Chinese worked over the exterior of a crossover together with Italian designers. But at the same seems like the design of a novelty is oversaturated with eye-catching details – so desperately the Chinese manufacturer strove to please its potential customers and highlight their offspring on the road.
The car has received an original radiator grille declining on the hood; curved front and rear optics; sport bumpers with mesh front air intake; stylish fog lights; dynamic stamping along the profile of the body; ascending window sills line fading into the rear side window, inscribed into the rack; spoiler on the tailgate and rear window with an original eye-catching profile.
As for dimensions, Changan CS35 is very compact. The length of its body is only 4160 mm and the wheelbase fits into the framework of 2560 mm, the width of a crossover does not exceed 1810 mm and rests on a mark of 1670 mm. CS35 ground clearance equals 180 mm that is quite acceptable to the city. The curb weight of a crossover is 1345 or 1365 kg, depending on its configuration.
A five-seat interior of Changan CS35 is solidly designed and looks clean and modern. The basic version will have finishing made of fabric and abundantly implemented soft plastics, while the “top” versions will have seating upholstery made of artificial leather. There are no major complaints to the ergonomics of a front panel, but in the whole the interior of is far from ideal, and that primarily concerns the abundance of a necessary free space for the rear seats.
The trunk of Changan CS35 is good enough to a car of a similar size and is able to accommodate up to 337 liters of cargo in a standard condition or 1251 liters with folded back row seats.
There is only one available engine version that has two gearboxes to choose: a 5-step “mechanics” or a 4-band “automatic.” Changan CS35 motor peak torque equals 152 Nm and is available in a range from 4000 to 5000 rev / min. The first hundred on the speedometer Changan CS35 dials at14.0 seconds in the “mechanics” version and at 15.0 seconds in the “automatic” version. The maximum speed in both cases is 180 km / h.
The new Crossover is built on a front-wheel drive platform, so the wheel drive system is not even an option. The front suspension of a crossover is fully independent, based on MacPherson type struts and stabilizer bar. The car has 4-wheel disc brakes, ventilated at the front. In addition, a dual-circuit braking system is complemented by ABS, BAS and EBD, together with the mechanical drive brake.
Changan CS35 is available in three different configurations: «Standard» «Comfort» and «Luxe». The list of basic equipment includes 16 Chinese-inch steel wheels, air bag for the driver, adjustable seat belts with pre-tensioners, immobilizer, height-adjustable steering column, electric front windows, a driver seat adjustable in six directions, audio system with 6 speakers, support for USB / AUX / CD / MP3, and also a full-size spare tire.
