History of the Caio Foz
The Foz belongs to the micro-bus side of the Caio range, the line the company had built since the 1970s with the Carolina and later the Piccolo and Piccolino. The first model to carry the name was the Foz 2005, listed as built from 2005 to 2013, followed by the Foz Super of 2006–2009 and the Foz Super II of 2009–2022.
The body was designed around the sort of work that small buses do in Brazil: taking children to school, carrying tourists on short trips and moving small groups on charter. In that role the Foz was bought on a variety of light-truck and micro-bus chassis, the example photographed for this page being a Foz Super school bus on a Volkswagen chassis.
The range was renewed in the 2010s and 2020s. The Foz 2200 was built from 2008 to 2019 and then returned in 2016, the Foz 2400 2017 ran from 2017 to 2020, and the Foz 2400 2020 is still listed. For longer runs there was the Solar Foz of 2009–2012, an intercity version of the same body, and the current catalogue also offers the Foz 2200 Soul Class of 2017 onwards.
Design and features

- Several chassis: the Foz was bodied on the light chassis used for Brazilian micro-buses, including Volkswagen.
- School role: a common sight as a school bus, as in the Foz Super photographed in Minas Gerais.
- Long life in the range: from the Foz 2005 to the Foz 2400 2020, more than fifteen years of development.
