History

The Alfa 6 was the flagship of the Alfa Romeo range when it launched in 1979. Its four-door body was fairly conventional and shared a style with the existing Alfetta, and the two cars share a great number of parts, including the door panels. Design work on the 6 was done before the Alfetta, but the fuel crisis of 1973 delayed its development.

Standard equipment included power steering, power windows, central locking, electric mirrors and a 25% limited-slip differential, which made the car competitive in price with similar saloons. The car also had a shock sensor in the boot that cut the fuel supply in a crash. In 1983 the car was revamped with single rectangular headlights, new bumpers and a new grille.
