Based on one source: the Portuguese Wikipedia article on SR Veículos Especiais, which lists the XK models but gives no production dates or technical data for them.

History of the SR XK

SR Veículos Especiais was created by Eduardo de Souza Ramos, whose initials gave the company its short name. It grew into one of the largest Brazilian firms specialising in vehicle conversion — the practice of taking a standard production vehicle and rebuilding it in a different body style or specification — and remained in business from 1979 until 1996, when it closed.

Pickups were the company’s most successful products, and its catalogue combined utility models with more sporting and off-road-flavoured ones. Among the vehicles it listed were the Ibiza, the Max Sport and Max Sport 2, the Deserter Rally, the Deserter XK, the Deserter 2 and the Country XK.

The XK name therefore appears on two different SR models: the Deserter XK and the Country XK. Published records of the company do not give separate production dates or technical specifications for either, so the two are best treated as members of the same XK family within the SR range rather than as a single model.

Design and features

  • Conversion rather than manufacture: SR rebuilt standard vehicles instead of designing cars from the ground up.
  • Pickup focus: pickups were the company’s most successful products.
  • Two XK models: the Deserter XK and the Country XK shared the XK name in the SR catalogue.
  • Broad range: the catalogue also included the Ibiza, Max Sport, Max Sport 2, Deserter Rally and Deserter 2.
  • Seventeen years of activity: the company operated from 1979 to 1996.

SR XK versions

  • Deserter XK: the XK model listed in the Deserter line.
  • Country XK: the second XK model in the SR range.
  • Deserter Rally and Deserter 2: other members of the Deserter family.
  • Ibiza, Max Sport and Max Sport 2: further SR products outside the XK line.

The SR XK belongs to the Brazilian conversion scene of the 1980s and 1990s. More vehicles are gathered in the SR collection.
