The 65 was Massey Ferguson’s larger tractor of the late 1950s, sold alongside the MF35 and replaced, like it, when the 100 range arrived in 1964. Published details of the model are limited to its mechanical specification.

Perkins power

Under the bonnet sat a Perkins four-cylinder four-stroke diesel, first the 4-A-2-192 and later the 4 A 203 D, rated at 50 to 59 ch at 2,000 rpm. The gearbox had six forward speeds for a top speed of 18 to 30 km/h and two reverse speeds for 9 to 14 km/h. With a fuel tank of 50 to 65 litres, the tractor weighed between 2,180 and 2,230 kg.

Design and features

  • Perkins four-cylinder diesel: 50–59 ch at 2,000 rpm, in 4-A-2-192 or later 4 A 203 D form.
  • Six-speed gearbox: with two reverse speeds.
  • Working weight: 2,180–2,230 kg.
  • Large tank: 50 to 65 litres for long days in the field.

Massey Ferguson 65 versions

  • 65 (1958–1964): the standard tractor.
  • Engine change: from the Perkins 4-A-2-192 to the 4 A 203 D.
  • Successor: the models of the 100 range from 1964.

The 65 was the bigger brother of the MF35 and a forerunner of the 165. More tractors are in the Massey Ferguson collection.
