The Hymer Exsis-I is the integrated version of the compact Exsis, a motorhome line built around the idea of a van-sized vehicle. The Dutch Wikipedia records that Hymer introduced the Exsis-I as the integrated successor of the Exsis, and that Hymer was the first brand to use the name Van for this compact class.

History of the Hymer Exsis-I
A compact Hymer
Hymer was the first brand to introduce the Van, initially a semi-integrated motorhome with more compact dimensions. The Exsis belongs to the same compact part of the range, and the Exsis-I was later introduced as its integrated successor: where the Van keeps the cab of the base vehicle, the integrated body of the Exsis-I is built as one unit.
Tuned versions
The compact line also produced the first tuned Hymer, the TuningVan, based on a Van Ti255. Later a B-Klasse SL from the 6-series was tuned by Brabus, the unofficial Mercedes-Benz specialist, because that Hymer used a Mercedes-Benz chassis.
Where it sits in the range
Hymer’s range covers alcove, semi-integrated, integrated and compact bodies. The alcove line is the Camp, the semi-integrated line the Tramp, the integrated line the B-Klasse, and the compact line the Van and Exsis-I; buses are sold as the Magic Van. The Exsis name was used before the current Van and Exsis-I names.
