The Dongfeng Rich (锐骐) is a family of pickups built by the Dongfeng Nissan joint venture of Dongfeng Motor Corporation. The first two generations were compact trucks based on the Nissan D22, while the Rich 6 and Rich 7 are larger models on Nissan Navara underpinnings. The name was also used for a badge-engineered Peugeot sold in Africa.

History of the Dongfeng Rich
First generation
The first Rich was a compact pickup and SUV derived from the Nissan D22, using the Nissan F-Alpha platform through the Dongfeng–Nissan joint venture. The SUV was essentially the pickup with a long roof over the load bed. Two engines were offered: a 2.5-litre turbo diesel producing 140 hp (104 kW) and 305 N⋅m with a six-speed manual gearbox, and a 2.4-litre petrol unit with 139 hp (104 kW) and 217 N⋅m driven through a five-speed manual.

Second generation
The second-generation Rich kept the Nissan platform and carried over the powertrains, but the truck was completely restyled at the front and rear and received an updated interior when it was launched in December 2014. In some markets it was rebadged as a Peugeot. An update in March 2017 brought the 2.5-litre turbo diesel to 140 hp (104 kW) and 305 N⋅m, 24 hp and 25 N⋅m more than the original, with a six-speed manual and a choice of two- or four-wheel drive. A 2018 revision left the engines alone but redesigned the interior around a 7-inch touch screen with Bluetooth, phone connection, tyre-pressure detection, reverse radar and ESP; four-wheel drive became available from the 2018 model year. The facelift for 2021, launched in January 2021, brought a new front end and a revamped cabin with a 3.5-inch screen and a 7-inch centre display offering a reverse camera, Baidu Carlife, navigation and online music, plus electronic stability control. The 2021 diesel is a YCY24165-61 2.4-litre turbo unit with 165 hp (123 kW) and 350 N⋅m, and the petrol alternative is an ATZD 2.4-litre engine with 158 hp (118 kW) and 235 N⋅m, both with a five-speed manual and two- or four-wheel drive.
Rich 6, Rich 7 and Gold Rich
The more upmarket Rich 6 arrived in 2017 alongside the regular Rich, using the third-generation Nissan Navara with only its front end restyled; a five-door SUV version was sold as the Palazzo (Palasuo). Its 2.4-litre petrol engine makes 158 PS (156 hp; 116 kW) and 230 N⋅m with a five-speed manual, while the 2.5-litre turbo diesel produces 140 PS (138 hp; 103 kW) and 305 N⋅m through a five-speed manual or a ZF six-speed automatic with eco, sport and snow modes. Four-wheel drive comes from BorgWarner without a rear axle differential lock; the suspension is double wishbone at the front and leaf springs at the rear, with five variable-section steel leaves. The approach angle is 31°, the departure angle 20° and ground clearance 207 mm, on 255/70 R16 tyres with front discs and rear drums. In March 2023 Zhengzhou-Nissan added an electric Rich 6 in two forms: the 350 with a 163 hp (122 kW) motor, 420 N⋅m, a 60.16 kWh CATL LFP battery and 350 km of CLTC range, and the 450 with 177 hp (132 kW), 450 N⋅m, a 77.28 kWh battery and 453 km. The Rich 7 followed in June 2022 as a more premium Rich 6 with a more civilian front; its M9T 2.3-litre turbo diesel makes 166 hp (124 kW) and 420 N⋅m, 3 hp and 40 N⋅m more than the Rich 6 with the same engine. In 2026 the third generation, the Gold Rich, was launched as a cheaper variant of the Rich 6 with similar dimensions, a Renault-supplied 2.3-litre M9T diesel of 108 kW and 350 N⋅m, an eight-speed automatic and official consumption of 6.8 l/100 km.
Peugeot Pickup
The Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroën joint venture announced in July 2017 that Dongfeng would build a badge-engineered version of the Rich double cab as the Peugeot Pickup. It went on sale in Africa from September 2017 and was replaced by the Peugeot Landtrek at the beginning of 2021.
Design and features
- Nissan platforms: the first generations used the Nissan D22 and its F-Alpha platform; the Rich 6 and Rich 7 moved to the third-generation Navara.
- Diesel and petrol engines: from a 2.4-litre petrol to 2.5-litre and 2.3-litre turbo diesels, with manual and automatic gearboxes.
- More than a pickup: the first generation was also sold as an SUV, and the Rich 6 gained a five-door SUV body and an electric version.
- Badge engineering: the same double cab was sold in Africa as the Peugeot Pickup.
